Since morning Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh have been trending on the Internet for all the wrong reasons. Due to the ongoing health crisis, COVID-19, the Indian cricketers announced that they are donating to cricketer Shahid Afridi’s NGO in Pakistan. The cricketers were slammed and #ShameOnYuviBhajji started trending on Twitter. Soon after the news spread like wildfire, Yuvraj put out the statement and said that his intention has been blown out of proportion.

In his statement, Yuvi wrote, “I really don’t understand how a message to help the most vulnerable gets blown out of proportion. All I tried to achieve via that msg was to help ppl in our respective countries by providing healthcare, my intentions were not to hurt anyone’s feeling. I am an Indian and I will always bleed blue and will always stand for humanity. Jai Hind!”

Rangoli, on the other hand, re-tweet an old video of Shahid Afridi and said that the cricketers should be donated to their country. The video has been shared by a social media user. The clips Afridi imitating Aarti and talking about some show his wife used to watch on Star Plus. She wrote in her Tweet, “Kyun yeh jahil desi Pak ke payaar mein mare ja rahe hain, inko ek bus mein dalo aur border pe chhodo please, Hamari taraf se yehi donation se sakte hain hum Afridi ki foundation ko please ke jao inko.”

The Twitterati stormed at them when both the cricketers revealed donating for former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi’s charity for Coronavirus. Due to the ongoing tension between the two countries, they faced severe backlash not contributing to the neighbouring countries and not the Indian government.
